Oystel sends discount phone account on hoiday

Qystel Communications today announced the launch of a new service that enables its customers to use their discount international phone account to call the UK while abroad.

The service can be used to phone the UK from a touch tone phone from almost any country in the world.

Oystel general manager, Dione Williams, said with the summer holidays approaching, she expected the service to be very popular with existing customers, as well as appealing to a new market segment.

"Traditionally, callers phoning home from overseas had limited often inconvenient options: struggle with change in a phone box, buy a phone card you'll never finish, alternatively face huge hotel bills or the shock of receiving a BT Calling Card or reverse charges bill. Our service simplifies everything and because it's prepaid you can't exceed your budget."

Qystel's rates are significantly cheaper than many of the alternatives. The cost of calling France to the UK is 23p per minute, the Greece 23p per minute, Australia 27p per minute. Comparatively a BT Chargecard costs 90p per minute to call from France, 94p per minute to call the UK from the Greece and £ 1.71 per minute from Australia. Hotel rates can be up to four times as much.

Qystel believes the service will also prove popular with parents whose children are travelling abroad. Parents can open an account for their travelling offspring, provide them with the authorisation details and be reassured they'll keep in touch and they won't receive a phone bill the price of a plane ticket. Additionally, the same account could also be used to phone from the UK."

Using Oystel's service from abroad is easy. From any touch-tone phone, the relevant country's free phone number is dialed, connecting the caller to the London exchange. The customer the follows the usual voice prompts to enter their account and pin number. An account balance is given, followed by a dial tone and the customer dials the required number. The service can also be used to call other international destinations as normal.

To establish an account customers call free phone number 0800 279 1500, register their details and prepay an amount on their credit or debitcard.

There are no set-up fees or account-keeping fees; and customers pay only for the calls they make, at the lowest rates available from the market.
