A Conference on Friday 3rd May at Manchester Town Hall
Many children and young people are deeply concerned about environmental damage, both local and global. Local Agenda 21, and the work being done on this by local authorities and other organisations, is a real opportunity to get children and young people involved.
The Children, Young People, Communities and the Environment conference will highlight practical projects to examine three questions:
1. In what kinds of environmental activities are children and young people most prepared to be involved? Do the activities need to be very local? School-based? Done in co operation with adults?
2. How can the idea of commurnty participation be made meaningful for children and young people be made meaningful? How can the voices of children and young people be heard?
3. How can a more positive attitude be created by improving poor environments?
The conference is being organised by the Community Development Foundation, the Centre for Urban Development and Environmental Management (CUDEM), and the Sustainability Group at Manchester City Council.
